About Land - Access Tab

About Land - access Tab

With this tab, you control who has access to your parcel.

  • Access To This Parcel:
    • Anyone can visit: If this is enabled, anyone will be able to enter the parcel - other than banned residents (see below). If you disable it, ban lines will be created; restrictions specified on the rest of the tab then apply.
      • Must be 18+: If enabled, only residents who have verified that they are adults, on the SL website, will be allowed access. Note that this is a parcel-level setting, and is not the same as the Adult setting, which is estate-level. It is possible to have Adult access without being age verified.
      • Must have payment Info on File: If this is enabled, only residents who have payment information on file with LL will be allowed access to the parcel.
  • Allow group xxx without restrictions: Enabling this allows you to restrict access to members of the group that the parcel is set to, on the General Tab.
  • Sell Passes to: Check to charge an admittance fee to your parcel and set the time period for which those passes are valid.
  • Always allowed: Use the Add button to open the Avatar Picker window to add Residents who will always have access to your parcel. Select a Resident name from your Allowed Residents list and click Remove to remove them from the list.
  • Always banned: Use the Add button to open the Avatar Picker window to add Residents who will not have access to your parcel. Select a Resident name from your Banned Residents list and click Remove to remove them from the list.

NOTE: Ban lines for residents who are explicitly excluded from entry to a parcel, extend up to 5000m above the ground; for residents excluded by other means (eg, not age verified, not members of the group, etc), the ban line extends to 50m above the ground. (Ref. SL Wiki on Limits.)

Remove Experiences from this list by selecting the Experience and clicking the Remove button. View an Experience's profile by selecting it and clicking the Profile button.
  • Blocked Experiences: Block up to 24 Experiences from running on your parcel. Any Resident-owned Experience can be blocked. Add new Experiences to the list by clicking the Add button and selecting it from the Choose Experience window. Remove Experiences from this list by selecting the Experience and clicking the Remove button. View an Experience's profile by selecting it and clicking the Profile button.

Toolbar Buttons

Toolbar Buttons Window

This window is used to customize the layout of the on-screen buttons. The window is accessed by right clicking any of these buttons.

You can drag and drop buttons to and from this window, from the tool bars. Tool bars exist on both sides of the screen, and at the bottom.

The buttons will be displayed according to each toolbar's settings: icons, text labels, or both.

The following toolbar buttons are available:

Below are these three buttons:

  • Clear all toolbars will remove all buttons from all toobars.
  • Restore defaults will restore buttons as they would be on a clean install.
  • Locked: If you enable this, it will prevent you from accidentally moving or removing buttons from the toolbars.

See this video for a tutorial.

Debug Settings

This windows gives access to all the viewer settings. Many of these are already accessible via the Preferences window or the top menu bar. Quite a few others, however, are not.

NOTE: Do not change settings here unless you know what you are doing, or are requested to do so by a member of the Support Team.

A full list of debug settings is available here.

To change a setting:

  • Type in the setting name in the drop-down. You will notice that it attempts to auto-complete the name as you type.
On versions later than 3.2.2, it will match even if you type something other than the start of the name. For example, render will match (among other things) DebugShowRenderInfo.
  • Once you have the correct setting, set the value you want below. This might be a True/False type setting, or it might want a number; it will vary depending on the specific setting.
  • To revert to the default value of a given setting, click the Reset to Default button.

Buying Land

Buying Land

If you wish to purchase a parcel you have found and like, you can do so either by going to About Land and selecting Buy Land from the General Tab, or by right clicking the ground and selecting Buy Land from the menu.

A window will open, like the one shown here. The window will fill with information about the parcel, so that you can make an informed decision.

  • Parcel: Parcel name and coordinates.
  • Size: The parcel's size in sqm and number of prims it supports.
  • Price: The parcel's sale price and the cost per sqm.
  • Region: Region name and maturity rating.
  • Type: Either full region, homestead, or openspace.
  • Buying this land will: Notification of potential changes to your membership.

These only apply when purchasing land on a private estate:

  • Estate: Estate the region belongs to.
  • Estate Owner: Information about the estate owner.
  • Purchased land in this region: Describes resale and division conditions.
  • Last Modified: When the estate covenant was updated.
  • Covenant: Terms and conditions set by the estate owner for landowners in the estate.

Before purchasing, you must check I Agree to the Covenant Defined Above. Then click Purchase to buy it.

  • Return Click to returns the selected linkset(s) to the owner's inventory.
  • Delete Click to delete the selected linkset(s) from the region.
  • Choose Linkset Use Change the linkset use attribute of the selected linkset(s).
  • Walkability Coefficients Enter individual walkability coefficients for each character type (A, B, C, D).
Walkability coefficients range from 0% to 100% to determine the influence the effect the linkset has on a character's speed while the character is traversing across the linkset object.
For example, a linkset with Walkability Coefficient of 50% for character type A will cause characters of type A to reduce their speed by half while the character is traversing the object.
  • Apply Changes Click to apply changes to the selected linkset(s) use type and/or walkability coefficients.

Notes

  • For linksets with use fields marked as “[restricted]”, only certain linkset use modes are available.
This restriction is the result of the object not having modifiable permission enabled for the user.
  • For linksets with use fields marked as “[concave]”, the linkset use modes for Material Volume and Exclusion Volume are not available.
This restriction is the result of the shape object not being convex. All pathfinding volumes **must* be convex.
  • The “[Terrain]” linkset is available to be viewed and edited by the estate managers only.
Additionally, while the walkability coefficients for the “[Terrain]” linkset are modifiable by estate managers, the Linkset Use field of “[Terrain]” linkset is not modifiable by anyone and will always be “Walkable”.

Script Error Window

This window opens when script errors occur in the region you are in. For each object which has generated an error, there is a tab showing what the error is. The title of the window shows the name of the object, and its location, to help you find it and try to deal with the problem.

There is also an [ALL SCRIPTS] tab which shows a general list of all script errors.

NOTE: Script errors may be sent to Nearby Chat instead, by going to PreferencesNotifications -> Objects & Scripts, and setting Report script errors in: Nearby Chat. They may also be disabled entirely.

It is not recommended that you disable script errors; errors show that soemthing is not working correctly, and if you disable then, you will never be aware of a problem until, perhaps, you try to use the item and it fails to respond.

Firestorm Web Feed Issues

If you get a black screen when opening Search, Web Profiles, or Destinations, then try the following:

  • Sometimes the window opens minimized at the top left; check to see if this is the case.
  • Go to PreferencesNetwork & Files -> Connection and ensure that the following are all enabled:
    • Enable Plugins
    • Enable cookies
    • Enable Javascript
  • If this is not enough to get search working then go to PreferencesPrivacy -> General and click on Clear History (top of the window). Then relog.
  • If this still doesn't help, then make sure that your anti-virus software hasn't flagged, and possibly deleted, SLPlugin.exe, which is required for search to work. Try disabling your anti-virus completely, then reinstalling Firestorm to a different folder. Once done, re-enable your anti-virus and make sure you set it to exclude SLPlugin.exe from being scanned.

Some other issues affecting search are covered here.
