The Firestorm inventory window is accessed by clicking the inventory icon on the bottom button bar.
This will open the inventory window, which is initially docked, but as with all other such windows, may be undocked. A typical inventory window looks like the one below.
These are special Firestorm Viewer folders which are “protected” by default to prevent inadvertent mishaps.
For more information, see Animation Overrider
For more information, see Firestorm LSL Bridge
Restrained Love. For basic setup, see RLVa Quick Setup
The Wearable Favorites window allows you to list frequently used items, HUDs as an example, in an easily accessible location so that you can quickly attach and detach them as needed. See Wearable Favorites
There are three views available in the inventory window; you can toggle between them by clicking the tabs described below:
Below these three tabs is your inventory proper. Inventory is organized into a hierarchical tree. By default, the main inventory consists of two folders, which you cannot rename: Inventory and Library. Within Inventory are more folders. Some of these are system folders, meaning they have default and standard uses and cannot be removed or renamed or moved; all other folders here can be manipulated at will. For the most part, this main folder will contain items you accumulate in SL, things you purchase, or make.
The Library folder, on the other hand, is supplied by SL. It contains all manner of things which might be of use. You are free to use items in this folder as you wish, but you may not delete or otherwise manipulate the contents.
If a folder icon has a small arrow to the left, then it contains items; click that arrow to expand the folder. Folders may contain single items or other folders, or a mix of both. Items may be objects, textures, animations, and so on.
If you click on any folder, to the left of the name you will see the number of elements in the folder, that is, actual items, and subfolders. Referencing the image above, the Objects folder shown contains 28 items, and 6 subfolders.
Note that the total displayed (6616 in the image) includes items and folders.
Below the inventory view are more icons:
The bottom of the inventory window has 3 buttons:
Inventory can be searched by typing into the white space at the top. As you type, inventory is filtered to show only items that match what has been typed. As described above, you can search by name, creator, description or UUID.
If you want to search on multiple words, separate them with a '+', but without spaces. For example, if you are looking for a landmark that you think contains Firestorm Marina, type in: Firestorm+Marina. This will match (assuming you actually have such a landmark, of course), Firestorm Gateway Marina.
To clear the search field, click the 'x' at the end of the search bar.
Normally, search operates across all tabs in the Inventory window. If you want to use separate searchs on Inventory tabs, then go to Preferences → User Interface → Interface Windows → Allow separate search terms on each tab in inventory.
If you right click any inventory item or folder, you get a menu. This menu will vary depending on context; for example, right clicking a folder will give a different menu that right clicking an item.
For Environment Settings only:
For the Recent tab only:
Aside from the usual Share option, there is a Cleanup Broken Links option. This will remove any broken links from the folder, without you having to unprotect it, and then manually go through and delete broken links.
With the advent of Direct Delivery, there can now be a new Received items folder or sub-panel in the inventory window. This will appear the very first time you make a purchase from the SL Marketplace, that is sent by Direct Delivery - as opposed to the previous “Magic Box” system.
If you prefer to have this sub-panel displayed as a normal inventory folder, open Preferences→ User Interface -> Interface Windows, and enable Show the Received Items folder in normal inventory.
For more information on Direct Delivery, please see the Direct Delivery FAQ.
SLURL Proxy is an application that will handle SLURLs on your Windows system. Clicking a slurl on the web, will open SLURL Proxy, which will forward the SLURL to the viewer you have chosen. Alternatively, SLURL Proxy gives you the option to set a viewer of choice directly, without using the proxy function.
Various Second Life viewers you might, or may already have installed, overwrite your registry settings and change the way slurls are handled on your system, but without asking you.
SLURL Proxy provides an easy and user friendly way to correct this, without you having to tamper with your registry, and whenever you feel like changing your settings.
You can download SLURL Proxy, and unpack it to a location of your choice. Double click SLURL Proxy.exe to start it.
Upon start up, SLURL Proxy will check to see if it's the default slurl handler. If it is not, it will inform you about that, and ask you if you'd like to use SLURL Proxy as default instead.
When you have set SLURL Proxy as default,(or even before that) you can simply drag one or more viewer shortcuts onto the application window, and they should be listed with viewer name, and icon. After this, you can close SLURL Proxy and it's ready to go.
SLURL Proxy allows you to add several viewers, and one always needs to be the default viewer to use. The default viewer is the one where the checkbox is checked. If you would like to change the default viewer, simply click the viewer of your choice in the list.
That's it.
Firefox or Chrome might be asking you what application to use when you click a slurl on the web, and if so, it will also display a choice of associated applications, in which the application you defined as default (for example SLURL Proxy or a Viewer.exe), will be highlighted.
Internet Explorer should simply be showing a dialog that informs you about the application that is trying to handle the clicked slurl, and if you want to allow that.
If you wish to set a viewer as default slurl handler instead of SLURL proxy, then you simply need to click Set other SLURL handler in the menu, and drag the shortcut of your favourite viewer onto the window.
Requires .NET 3.5 and only runs on Windows
The file you download, is a packaged as a zip archive.
Please note : If you already have a Viewer running, then any SLURLs will open in that Viewer, regardless of your settings.
In Firefox, goto Tools → Options → Applications Tab and scroll to Secondlife. Look to see if Firestorm is listed, if not, select “other”, then browse your hard drive to find the Firestorm.exe, click on it, select Open, then click Ok. (Reference: Applications panel—Set how Firefox handles different types of files.)
OR
Download and install the regular SL viewer - but don't run it.
OR
Try this if the above does not work:
http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/gaming-games-multimedia-entertainment/104105-how-firefox-calls-secondlife-slurls.html
Download and install the regular SL viewer - but don't run it.
If none of the above works, then try this as a last resort fix. Go into Chrome settings, the advanced Settings, at the bottom, then Reset Chrome. Please note that this will wipe all your customized Chrome settings.
The application that handles a URL is a system-wide setting, not tied to any one browser. You can change the setting like this:
Information gleaned from this page.
There is an alternative to clicking a link in a browser to have it pass control to the viewer. Some actually find this work around to be faster and use it normally:
The fist thing to check is the viewer settings: Preferences → Network & Files → Connections, in the Web Browser section, make sure Use My Browser… is selected.
If you get an error saying that no program is associated with the action, or that it doesn't know how to hand that action, make sure your computer settings show that there is a default web browser. An easy way to tell is to open your browser; if you are asked to make it the default, then you need to do so.
This window displays the environment assets that you have in your inventory. These include those you have acquired (shown in your Inventory folder) and those provided by Linden Lab (shown in your Library folder).
The three Environment asset types are Days, Skies, and Water.

Most region and estate management tools are accessed via the Region Details window; this can be found in the top menu bar, World → Region Details.
(For an overview of what regions and estates are, and the types of region, please refer to this SL Wiki page.
The Region Details window is divided into several tabs. Each will be discussed separately; use the navigation tabs above.
Firestorm supports both the new Region Windlight, introduced by LL, and Parcel Windlight, which was introduced with Phoenix Viewer. Both of these allow you to customize your in-world sky and water, but they operate at different levels: one is region-wide, while the other is restricted to single parcels.
Parcel Windlight allows individual parcel owners to customize their own land as they wish. Region Windlight is most effective on region-wide parcels, or where Region owners wish to provide a consistent experience to visitors.
There are several ways in which you can control you personal Windlight experience. You can opt to use whatever sky and water settings have been selected by region and/or parcel owners, or you can use your own. You can also create your own sky, water and day cycle settings.
General options concerning Windlight are set in Preferences→ Firestorm→ Windlight tab; please refer there for details.
If you wish to use your own day/night cycle, or set to a specific time of day, then use top menu bar→ World → Environment Editor → Environment Settings.
If you own a region or parcel, you can customize the Windlight settings for yourself, and for others visiting your land.
Region Windlight can only be changed by region owners or estate managers. It is set by going to the top menu bar and selecting World menu → Region Details. On the window that opens, select Environment. Regions can be set to use the default SL day cycle, a custom day cycle, or fixed time of day. See here for more on how to configure a region's Windlight settings.
Parcel Windlight sharing is a feature of Firestorm that allows land owners to specify a Windlight preset for the viewer to use while on their land at the parcel level.
The land owner just needs to put a plain text string at the end of the parcel description. Parcel description is set in the About Land floater, General tab.
/*Windlight Sky: "[name of the preset]"*/
NOTE: The Windlight name must be exactly as shown in the Windlight list, including all spaces, capitalization, and punctuation. One way to make sure you get the name exactly right is to go to World → Environment Editor → Sky (or Water) Presets → Edit Preset. Select the Windlight you want from the dropdown list, then copy the name.
Windlight water presets are also supported:
/*Windlight Sky: "[name of the preset]" Water: "[name of the WL water preset]"*/
Water settings can be used by its self just like sky if wanted.
Example: If the sky preset is to be [TOR] BIG SUN - Awwyeah and the water preset [TOR] Watermelon juice and the parcel's description is “My awesome place” then the parcel description would be like this:
My awesome place /*Windlight Sky: "[TOR] BIG SUN - Awwyeah" Water: "[TOR] Watermelon juice"*/
Zones
Parcel WL settings also support zoned settings based on altitude. This allows skyboxes to have a different sky settings than ground level.
/*Windlight Sky @ [lower]m to [upper]m: "[name of preset]"*/
Example: If the parcel wide settings are to be [TOR] MIDDAY - Cheery cyan for the sky and [TOR] Ice-like for the water with a skybox between 500 meters and 600 meters using [TOR] NIGHT - Moony for its sky, the config line would like like so:
/*Windlight Sky: "[TOR] MIDDAY - Cheery cyan" Water: "[TOR] Ice-like" Sky @ 500m to 600m: "[TOR] NIGHT - Moony"*/
The parcel wide settings for sky and water are optional. Zones can be used by themselves leaving the rest of the land at region defaults.
NOTE: There is a 3 meter minimum distance between zones, zones should be at least 10 meters apart and over lap the desired area by a least 5 meters to allow for the 5 second delay on detecting changes.
If you have set region WL to use a fixed sky or a custom day cycle, region WL will always override parcel WL unless you use the RegionOveride flag
For example:
/*Windlight Sky: "[name of the preset]" Water: "[name of the WL water preset]"RegionOverride*/
Advanced
If there is not enough space in the description for the desired config line, there are several optional formatting and whitespace
/*Sky:"[preset]"Water:"[preset]"*/
Is the same as:
/*Windlight Sky:"[preset]" Water:"[preset]"*/
Zones can be shortened as well:
/*Sky@[lower]-[upper]:"[preset]"*/
Be sure to use “straight quotes,” both double and single, not “curly quotes.”
Please refer to this page for details.
This tab is used to indicate the covenant, or rules, of the region. A covenant is a set of terms and conditions determined by an estate owner. It may outline such details as local theme, rental fees, architectural regulations, and rules of behavior in the region/estate. To purchase a parcel on an estate, a Resident must agree to the estate's covenant. Covenants are always viewable, but not editable, in About Land→ Covenant.
The top lines give general information about the estate:
Below this is a large text box which displays the current covenant. This text will be displayed in all parcels on the region/estate, as noted above. To change the covenant, drag in a new notecard. If you wish to clear the current text, click the Reset button below.
Following this is information specific to the current region; this information too is displayed in all parcels' About Land:
This tab is used to help diagnose and resolve problems the region might be experiencing, particularly region/server lag.
The top three check boxes disable vital functions of the region; do not use them lightly! They can serve not only to try to identify potential problems with objects on the region, but also as emergency measures to combat griefing.
Object return allows you to return all objects owned by a given person. This is sueful in griefing situations, but use with extreme care, select the name carefully as there is no way to undo this!
The next two buttons display lists of objects, which can be used to find any that might be causing excessive region lag:
The last two buttons concern region restarts:
This tab deals primarily with access control to the region/estate you own or manage. If the estate comprises several regions, changes made will optionally be applied to all regions.
The top lines are informative: the who the name of the estate and the estate owner.
The next section concerns broad access rights and options:
The four lists below manage specific inclusions and exclusions to estate access. Below each are two buttons:
